Full-Year Program
Description
The Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs awards three full-tuition scholarships for a year of study in the University of Amsterdam's program in European History and Culture. Students receive Hofstra credit for courses in European history, geography, economics, and political science. (All courses are taught in English.) The program is recommended for students who have achieved junior status at Hofstra (a minimum of 58 credits). Candidates must have a 3.0 or better grade point average.
Eligibility
Ideally, applicants should have completed nine credits of social sciences, comprised of three credits in each of the following: European history, political science, and economics or geography. Students must complete a scholarship application that includes an essay and two letters of recommendation. In addition, top candidates will interview individually with a selection committee.
Cost
Tuition is covered; however, students must pay a "maintain matriculation fee" at Hofstra of $100 (subject to change) per semester. Additional costs include round-trip airfare, books, excursions and miscellaneous living expenses.
