Program Description

Hofstra in France: Paris, Nice, Monaco
June 27-August 1, 2013

The Hofstra in France Program offers the unique opportunity to earn academic credits in French language and literature as well as Public Relations courses while experiencing the artistic and literary richness of Paris and the beauty of the French Riviera. 

Program Highlights

  • Complete distribution courses (LT/CC), complete your language requirement, take classes for your French major or minor, and even take courses with an individual honors option.
  • Take a  course toward your public relations major or minor.
  • Learn about arts and literature in Paris through guided visits of museums and/or writers’ houses.
  • Spend the last week in Nice, on the French Riviera, and discover Monaco.

Eligibility

Hofstra and non-Hofstra students are encouraged to apply to the Program. 

Program Costs*

In addition to standard Hofstra tuition and fees for six (6) undergraduate credits, the program fee of $4,950 includes: 

  • Round-trip airfare (New York-Paris/Nice-New York)

During the first three weeks in Paris:

  • Subway passes
  • Accommodations (hotel)
  • Some meals (minimum of two dinners per week) 
  • Excursions to a variety of sights and museums in and/or around Paris

During the last week on the Riviera:

  • Transportation to Nice
  • Lodging with families
  • Excursions within Nice
  • Visit to Monaco 
  • Farewell dinner

* The program fee is based on last year’s program and is subject to change according to fluctuations in international exchange rates. 

Application Information 

For an application, please visit hofstra.edu/studyabroad and click on “Study Abroad Applications” under the “Useful Resources” tab. Download and compete the Hofstra in France Program application and the four (4) necessary forms. Bring the completed application, necessary forms, and $400 nonrefundable deposit receipt to the Office of Study Abroad Programs, 107 Roosevelt Hall, South Campus, by March 7, 2013.

PR 103 Public Relations Copywriting (3 s.h.)
PR 180C International Public Relations (with special emphasis on France) (3 s.h.) 

** Course offerings are dependent upon student enrollment. All courses meet Monday-Thursday. Class work and discussions are supplemented with visits to artistic, literary and historical sites. No previous knowledge of French is required for FRLT 43, RLLT 102, PR 103 and PR 180B.

*** All undergraduate students must register for 6 credits, with a maximum of one course in public relations.
