(offered for the first time Spring 2012)

Beginning in spring 2012, Hofstra University juniors and seniors have the opportunity to study at the University of Hyderabad as full-time students in their Study India Program (SIP).  The program, which began in 1998, is interdisciplinary and emphasizes heritage, continuity and change in India.  The Hofstra in India Program is offered through the Asian Studies Program at the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Hofstra University students enroll in a full semester of courses (normally 12 semester hours), selected from SIP courses for foreign students, regular university courses, and noncredit courses, such as Yoga or Indian Classical Dance.

The University of Hyderabad is the first federally funded university established in South India, and ranks among India's top ten academic institutions.  Many of the more than 300 faculty are recognized in their respective fields.  The 2,000 acre campus is located in the vibrant city of Hyderabad, at the crossroads between the south and north and where Hindu and Islamic civilizations intertwine.  The university enrolls 2,700 students annually, 90 percent of who live on campus, ensuring a vibrant intellectual and social life. International students are housed in the newly constructed Tagore International House.
