A January three week period or a summer three or five week period is an excellent venue for a first-time study abroad student or one who has financial, work, or course/major restrictions that would prevent a longer period of time abroad. Even though these programs are limited in duration, they serve as excellent opportunities to gain cultural awareness and grow both personally and academically. Short-term programs are very popular with our students and many of them choose to participate again in another short-term or semester program.
Both January and summer study abroad have distinctive advantages. While learning about the culture, people and attractions of the foreign city or country, students have the advantage of satisfying major/minor or distribution requirements. A student can obtain a maximum of four credits in January or Summer Session 3 and a maximum of seven credits in Summer Sessions 1 and 2.
