RE: Faculty Diversity Research and Curriculum Development Grants
LGBT Research Initiative Awards
Last year, the University awarded four Faculty Diversity Research and Curriculum Development Awards. Eleven proposals were submitted. Topics explored by the awardees included “the role of faculty diversity in the learning and development of doctoral students;” the development of an after-school enrichment program in an underrepresented school district, the examination of the history and archaeology of a Native and African American community on Long Island; and a program of “more responsive services for students with disabilities” on Hofstra’s campus. Given the success of this program and the importance of the topics involved, we are once again earmarking some of the monies raised at this year’s (National Center for Suburban Studies) Celebration of Suburban Diversity to once again fund four awards.
