Funding Opportunities

Finding funding opportunities in your field of research can be a daunting and time consuming task. In order to accommodate your convenience, the staff at the Office for Research and Sponsored Programs has compiled some ongoing opportunities that might be of interest.

Internal Opportunities

  • Faculty Diversity Research and Curriculum Development Grants

    The due date for submitting an application for the Faculty Diversity Research and Curriculum Development Grant is Tuesday, December 15, 2009.

    Grant Funding Period: February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011
    Grant Recipients Notified: January 15, 2010
    Grant Report Due: January 31, 2011

    Four grants of $2500 each will be awarded in support of research or curricular innovation regarding diversity. These grants are designed to encourage research and curriculum development on issues of diversity by faculty in any discipline. Our goal in making these awards, consistent with our diversity mission statement, is to do all that we can in the classroom, in scholarship, and in the community "to provide multiple cultures, to encourage scholarship and knowledge production incorporating multiple perspectives and to demonstrate commitment to fair and equal access to higher education." The grant funding period for these awards is February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011.

    Applications, in the form of a written proposal, should be submitted electronically to the Provost's Office at PROVOST@hofstra.edu by Monday, December 15, 2009. The proposal description should be limited to four double spaced, typed pages and include the broad objective and specific diversity research/curricular innovation that the applicant intends to accomplish. The proposal should also describe how the proposed project enhances the goal of promoting diversity and how the results of the project will be disseminated.

    Recipients of this award will be notified by January 15, 2010 and will be expected to provide a brief formal written report of the completed project to the Provost's office no later than January 31, 2011 and present the work at a public talk on campus in Spring 2011.
