Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award

Each spring members of Hofstra's current academic graduating classes help us select the faculty member who will receive the annual "Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award." The person selected receives a cash award and an engraved plaque citing reasons given by students in support of their nomination.

In March, a ballot, a list of past award winners and a list of eligible faculty members are mailed to all members of the graduating class. The students indicate on the ballot the names of those faculty members they feel are most deserving of recognition as distinguished teachers. Only persons who are full-time members of the faculty in the academic year of graduation and who have not received the award in previous years are eligible this year.
