What's New

Look to Outlook for your Hofstra Email

We are happy to announce that Hofstra is moving from GroupWise to Microsoft Outlook in October, 2009. This popular and easy-to-navigate software has built-in features guaranteed to save time and add efficiency to your e-mail experience.

During August and September, each on-campus computer will be set up to allow use of both GroupWise 7 and Outlook until October. The Outlook shell will actually be using your GroupWise e-mail and calendar. This will give you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with Outlook during the transition period.

Outlook overview sessions are available now. Visit www.hofstra.edu/training to view a schedule and register.

Watch your email for more information about Outlook and the launch of the New E Help Desk on the portal coming soon. This portal will provide real-time help via live chat, documentation and videos, a GroupWise to Outlook comparison chart, and much more.

Research in Progress to Improve Online Grading

Enhancements to Incomplete Grades processing and Online Change of Grades are being explored.

Faculty - watch for email notification about findings and any possible changes in the fall.

Attendance Confirmation for Student

Once each semester, when a student logs into the portal a popup will appear asking for confirmation of attendance for that semester.

Where can I learn about Outlook? Visit www.office.microsoft.com for training videos, information and guided learning modules. Click the HELP AND HOW TO tab, enter OUTLOOK 2007 in the search box and take a look at the vast collection of helpful resources that are available online.

What is the Microsoft Office ribbon? The ribbon is the area that spans the top of the window of Office 2007 programs that organized features by tab and group. The tabs focus on major activities such as Page Layout, Review and Insert and are divided into groups of features and icons.
