What's New

Memorial Day Weekend Upgrade

The My.Hofstra.edu portal, Banner and Hofstra Online will be unavailable as services are improved. During the upgrade, Blackboard, email services and My Files may be accessed by visiting My.Hofstra.edu and following the links that will be provided.

Hofstra Online will include a new SHOW/HIDE menu detail button to help you find just what you need. Faculty and advisors will notice the consolidation of the Student and Adviser menu options into the STUDENT ADVISEMENT INFORMATION sub-menu.

Watch for a HOFALERT in your email the week before Memorial Day for start and end times of this service interruption.

Student Room Assignment Online

Students can now select the location of their housing assignment for the upcoming year or renew their current location. Other room selection criteria are available, such as special interest areas and Honors College.

Windows 7 and Office 2010 Upgrade for Hofstra PCs

Starting this summer, Information Technology will update the University's desktop and laptop computers to the latest versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. We'll keep you posted as we move through the process.
If your PC computer meets the system requirements, it will be upgraded to Windows 7 with an all-new-user interface. You can get a preview of the Windows 7 interface HERE.

Computers running Windows 7 will also have Office 2010 installed. Although it is similar to MSOffice 2007, Office 2010 has some new features and a few changes to its look and feel. Get a preview of Office 2010 and applications HERE
If your PC does not meet the system requirements for Windows 7, it will be left as is.

Office 2011 upgrade for Hofstra Macs

If you use a Hofstra-owned Mac and are running Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard), it will be upgraded to Office: Mac 2011. You can get acquainted with the new interface of Office:Mac2011 HERE.
If your Mac is running an earlier version of Mac OS X, it will be left as is.

Tips and Tricks

How can faculty email all students in a class from Hofstra Online? An Email icon at the bottom of any Brief or Full class roster inserts your students' email addresses in the BCC email field. Enter your email address in the TO field to allow delivery to your students.
