Lock Shop

Keys and More

The Lock Shop is responsible for many things. The most important being the creation, installation and tracking of all the keys and all the locks on campus. In addition, the Lock Shop is responsible for the doorways themselves. The trained locksmiths in the Lock Shop make sure that our doorways are safe and secure.

Key Requests

Key requests need to be made by the director of your department and submitted to the Physical Plant Department. A copy of the request for can be obtained here, or by calling 3-6619.

Once the key(s) are available, you will be notified when and where to pick up the key(s). Please note that you will need your Hofstra ID and will be required to sign for all keys you are given.

Lost or Stolen Keys

If a key is lost or stolen you must report it immediately to the Public Safety immediately. If a replacement key is required it will be provided with a charge to your department. Please have the Public Safety incident number available when requesting a replacement for a lost key. A list of the current key charges can be found HERE.

Key Safety

All keys provided to you by Hofstra University are University property. Key holders are restricted from having their Hofstra University issued keys duplicated or copied.
