The University will move to Office 365, a new version of the hosted services that provide Outlook e-mail and calendaring to faculty, staff and administrators.

Office 365 includes a back-end infrastructure upgrade, an enhanced version of Outlook Web Access, some new features for users of Outlook for Mac OS X, and an easier process for connecting to your Hofstra e-mail from mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets.

Timeline of service changes and outages:
Users must change e-mail passwords
E-mail passwords must have been reset between February 20, 2012 and April 20, 2012

Users who have not changed their e-mail passwords within the time frame listed above will be unable to log into their e-mail accounts once the transition has completed.

User mailboxes unavailable for a brief 10 to 15 minute period
Between Friday, April 20, 6 p.m. and Monday, April 23, 8 a.m.

The exact timing of this outage will be different for each user, but will fall within the time frame outlined above.

If you access your e-mail via Outlook for Windows, or Outlook Web Access via the My.Hofstra.edu Portal or Email.Hofstra.edu, your computer will automatically connect you to your mailbox at its new location.

If you use a Mac, or a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, etc.), please see the configuration instructions at hofstra.edu/Office365.
