Description: Hofstra University Department of Drama and Dance seeks a technical director/shop manager for an integrated drama and dance program. Duties will include technical direction for two to four productions per academic year; supervising the scene shop for both show production and various class work; and production support for an active production/concert schedule. Teaching responsibilities include two to four sections of play production lab and overseeing students of various skill levels. The position reports to and works closely with Production Manager/Technical Director to maintain the shop, supervise student aides and provide the technical needs of the season's productions.
Qualifications: Minimum BA/BFA with professional and/or university experience required; MFA Preferred. Required skills: theatrical engineering and construction in both wood and steel; MIG welding; ready knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound systems.
