Description: HOFSTRA COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
Assistant Professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University invites applications for an anticipated full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position beginning September 2014. The position is primarily for the M.A. Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the Ph.D. Program in Applied Organizational Psychology, although some undergraduate teaching is available as well. The M.A. program is an applied program that prepares students for careers in such areas as human resources, training and development, management and organization development, and market research. Our Ph.D. program places a strong emphasis on research methods and statistics as well as topics relating to human behavior in organizations.

In addition to graduate and possibly undergraduate teaching in I/O areas, the position requires the development of a research program and supervision of doctoral student research. We are looking for an energetic person who will make significant contributions to strengthen our already well-regarded M.A. program and help us bring our young Ph.D. program to national visibility.

The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related area and will demonstrate a strong record of accomplishment in research, teaching, and grant or contract activity, commensurate with rank. Practical experience working with organizations is desirable, but not required. Applicants for the position should have strong expertise in research methods and statistics and one or more specialty areas of I/O Psychology.

Hofstra University is located on Long Island in close proximity to New York City (25 miles east of Manhattan), with its wealth of business, entertainment, and cultural opportunities. Our faculty and students have diverse backgrounds and we welcome diverse applicants. For more information about our graduate programs, our faculty, and our students, applicants are encouraged to visit our Ph.D. and M.A. programs’ websites at:
