Journalism Workshop affords children the opportunity to experience the literary process through hands-on writing. We will focus on expressive writing as a process, rather than rules or formulas. Writing is not the only component, as students’ will read professional writings as well to enhance the writers’ understanding and growth. The curriculum is designed for young writers to support and develop their imaginative writing across literary genres. Writers are also encouraged to share ideas with other young writers as work will be both individual and collaborative. Students will have the opportunity to meet and talk to professional writers including key Hofstra personnel. The vibrant Hofstra campus is a great source for inspiration. All students’ submissions will be placed into a final arrangement and sent home as a lifelong keepsake. Our professional staff will assist campers from idea generation through publication.
