Personal Trainer / Health Fitness Instructor Course and Certification Exam
Since 1996, the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education (AAPTE) has offered its Personal Trainer course and Personal Trainer / Health Fitness Instructor Exam at Hofstra University Continuing Education (Hofstra CE). This program is designed for individuals seeking competency in the science of human performance and the practical skills of exercise mechanics required of the entry level personal trainer.
This comprehensive program is for the individual seeking a better understanding of exercise for one's own knowledge or the individual seeking a career as a professional in the field of personal training.

PERSONAL TRAINER/HEALTH FITNESS INSTRUCTOR COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:
- 50 hours of Classroom Theory (*includes 12 hrs of Anatomy, a prerequisite for exam eligibility)
- 18 hours of hands on learning (practical application taught in a state of the art fitness center. Hands on training includes: Pre Exercise Screening, Fitness Assessments and Exercise Biomechanics

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion in course work from Hofstra CE, and if meeting attendance requirements (participant may miss only two lecture modules and one lab module), from the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education. This course is perfect for those seeking professional or personal knowledge, planning to sit for the AAPTE CPFT- HFI Exam.
*Those with prior coursework in anatomy or a current nationally recognized personal trainer certification are exempt from the prerequisite course)
CERTIFICATION EXAM:
Those seeking Certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer / Health Fitness Instructor must sit for and pass the A.A.P.T.E. CPFT - HFI Exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, certificants will receive a Certification Diploma from the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education.
