Franklin Hill Perrell, chief curator of the Nassau County Museum of Art, has spent his life immersed in the art world, and, in this course, he teaches students about the major art movements and individual artists. Students will be able to identify art - at a glance - from the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and Classical periods; they will learn the differences between realism and abstract art; and they will become familiar with terms such as Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism and Expressionism. The course will equip students with the means to converse intelligently about art and enjoy a more meaningful experience when they visit a museum.
