In response to community needs, Hofstra embarked on a new program for children with autism. Called REACH, the program was developed in conjunction with specialists at The Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center. It is an exciting opportunity for these children with special needs. First, parents meet with the director to set parameters and goals for the child. Students are then encouraged to reach these pre-determined goals throughout the semester while working on social and communication skills. Students take part in an interactive workshop and an inclusion course all while working with their personal instructor on their social skill development. Notes:
- Registration for the REACH program is only available over the phone or in person.
