Program Description

Hofstra in Venice Program 2009
January 2-25

Live the Dream!

"She is the Shakespeare of cities – unchallenged, incomparable, and beyond envy."

-John Addington Symonds

The city of Venice, whose allure, beauty and mystery have been incessantly described, photographed and filmed, is the uncompromising setting for this three-week, interdisciplinary program offered in January 2009 by Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.

Join us as we celebrate this city's artistic and historical richness and explore her timeless myths and paradoxes.

In Our Students' Words....

"The Venice Program was by far the most rewarding experience of my college career. It is the best thing that you can do for yourself...you will never forget it."

Daniela Kochen

"I received the Venice Program brochure the summer before I transferred to Hofstra. As a transfer student, I did not know anyone going on the trip. That all changed once I was in Venice. The program was a life changing experience for me."

Anthony Coli

"The Hofstra in Venice Program was by far the best experience of my life. It was fun, educational and offered so many different opportunities. It increased my desire to travel and gave me so many memories that will last me a lifetime."

Christine Citera

"The Venice Program was an experience which I will never forget. It was the best program I have ever participated in at Hofstra and it has helped me grow in so many ways. I cannot wait to go back to Italy!"

Michele Speranza

"My study abroad experience in Venice was exquisite and unique. To have lived and learned in this magical city has enriched me beyond words: from learning Italian in the classroom, to speaking it among the Venetians, from magnificent trips to Rome, Milan, and Florence to meeting amazing Italians. Venice and the program will always have a special place in my heart."
