Elisa dos Santos
Jen hails from Clearwater Florida and recently moved to Long Island to pursue a MFA graduate degree in Hofstra's Documentary Studies and Production program. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Social Work and a minor in Cinema Studies. She plans to combine her foundation of social work with the vehicle of film to create positive change. Jen joined the Center for Civic Engagement in fall 2013 as a Graduate Assistant because her goals for change closely align with what the CCE stands for in its mission. The key to creating long-term change is looking at the systems within. Jen is looking forward to the upcoming school year and working with the CCE. Email Jen Ackerman

Nuzhat has a fiery passion for giving back and serving in the community. She believes strongly in two fundamental ideas: that life is about giving and that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Nuzhat graduated from Binghamton University with her Bachelor of Science in Biology and is now pursuing her MS in Community Health here at Hofstra. She hopes to use her passions and skills to improve population health and work with community members to make lasting and meaningful changes in healthcare.
