Bruce A. Lister

Technical Expert

Bruce Lister studied chemical engineering at Lafayette College and Columbia University. He received a B.S. and M.S. degree from Columbia University. He studied naval electronics at Bowdoin College and M.I.T., followed by postwar studies in food technology at M.I.T. He served as an officer (Lt./jg) in the U.S. Navy during World War II with duty in the U.S. Western Pacific area and Japan.

Employed by General Foods from 1943-62, Mr. Lister held various positions from research laboratory technician to divisional research manager. He was with Nestle Foods Corp. from 1962-89, retiring as vice president of corporate affairs. He continued serving as a consultant to Nestle for several years. He had been responsible for product development and for external matters affecting Nestle, including Regulatory and Government Affairs, consumer, community and media contacts, as well as crisis management and product recall situations. Mr. Lister also served as executive director of the Tea Association of the United States of America from 1989-93. This is a group of about 125 corporations in the United States and abroad who are involved in the production, shipping, packaging and marketing of tea. He continues as a technical expert to several law firms in tea matters.

Some of Mr. Lister's professional memberships include: American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Chemical Society (50 years), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (50 years), American Institute of Chemists, New York Academy of Sciences, and Institute of Food Technologists.

Mr. Lister also serves with the following organizations in various capacities: Hofstra University, Columbia University, Molloy College, First Church Baldwin United Methodist, Baldwin Council Against Drug Abuse, Bethany Methodist Home of Brooklyn, and International Executive Service Corp.

Other items of interest include working with NASA on space feeding. He has had food products on every one of the early American-manned space flights, including all Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Apollo-Soyuz, Space Lab and Space Shuttle flights.

Bruce Lister was awarded an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Hofstra University.
