Professionally Oriented Clubs and Activities
Calkins Hall, located on Hofstra’s South Campus, is home to the Department of Fine Arts/Art History/ Comparative Arts and Culture. In 2006 a student gallery opened, allowing student clubs such as FORM, and HAGA (Hofstra Association of Graphic Arts) to coordinate their own individual and group art shows. Additionally, every May the Department presents a juried art show, highlighting student work from ceramics, graphic design, new media, industrial design, photography, painting, sculpting and illustration.
For two years, Hofstra students have organized an event called “Not All Artists Are Starving,” bringing successful artists and designers (many of whom are Hofstra alumni) back to campus to talk about their experiences applying their Fine Arts education to a successful career.
