    Description (from the website): Semester interns are asked to commit to a part-time schedule of 8-10 hours per week for 10-12 weeks. Information about the Fall 2011 internship program at the New-York Historical Society will be available on this website beginning in July 2011. The deadline for applications will be Thursday, September 15, 2011.

    Description:  Volunteer positions available, they are flexible and willing to work with students to get credit from the university for their work. Ask for Josh,  who is the volunteer coordinator.

    Description:  Called, and then sent an email per their request. This museum is known primarily for its planetarium but on site is also the old Vanderbilt Mansion which serves as a museum dealing with the era in which the family resided in it.

    Description: There are currently no internships listed on the site, but they will have information available by August. The museum works to advance the public's understanding and appreciation of the moving imagine, and that includes the history of film, television, and digital media.

    Description: A museum under the auspices of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cloisters focuses on the art and architecture of medieval Europe. Applications for paid internships must be turned in a year before the internships is to take place. Currently internships for the 2011-2012 school year is closed; you can apply for 2012-2013 starting fall 2011. See above website for more information.

    Description:  The George Gustav Heye Center is a museum showcasing indigenous American culture through the present. Various internship opportunities are available but the position of Cultural Interpreter will likely be the most alluring to a history major. See above website for further details.

    Description: The county clerk's office deals mostly with securing and maintaining records, as well as providing information to the public. The statement given on the website states that they are looking for students "considering a career in law, public administration, finance, communications, journalism and / or archival history to join our staff." Students who wish to apply should send a resume and a brief cover letter explaining what they will gain from their experience to the above address.

    Description: Working in the district attorney's office is a wonderful opportunity for history students hoping to go onto law school. According to the website "If possible, interns will assist the attorneys in preparing cases for trial, investigation or appeal."     Description: This internship is only open to residents of Nassau County or students who are currently attending college in Nassau County. Each intern is assigned to a member of the Special Projects Team who will monitor their overall performance, while the interns specific office will be in charge of their day to day progress. Interns must work ten hours a week and attend all seminars given. Send the application form either by email, fax, or mail. See the website listed above for further details.

    Description: The Office of the Mayor offers a wide variety of opportunities, from working with the Mayor's Office of Special projects to the Office of Immigrant Affairs. The application must be submitted online and can be accessed at the site given above.
