Come out for a night of poetry and dialogue with acclaimed poet Martin Espada. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Espada has received numerous awards for his poetry. Most recently, his eighth book of poems, The Republic of Poetry received the 2007 Paterson Award for Sustained Literary Achievement and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. A former tenant lawyer, Espada is committed to his work as part of the struggle for social justice. He is now a professor in the Department of English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Books by Espada will be available for purchase and a book signing will follow the event.
