"Reflections on the Chilean Election of Michelle Bachelet: A One-Hit Wonder or Part of a New-Wave of Women Leaders"

Dr. Gwynn Thomas is an assistant professor in the Women's Studies Department at the University at Buffalo. She has recently returned from Chile, where she was conducting research on the uses of gender in the presidential campaign of Michelle Bachelet. She will be sharing her experiences of the campaign, the recent elections, and her analysis of what the election of Michelle Bachelet means in terms of women's political participation in Chile and Latin America.
