TRILCE
There's a place I know
in this world, no less,
that we will never reach.
And even if our feet were to tread
on it for just a moment
it would be, really, like not being.
This is a place one sees
rarely in this life,
walking, walking in a line.
Closer to myself and to both
my yolks, I have guessed it
always far from the fates.
You can go now, by foot
or by sheer unsaddled feeling,
for stamps can't even get there.
The tea-coloured horizon
is dying to colonise it
for its greater Anywhere.
But the place I know,
in this world, no less,
walks manned with reverses.
-Shut that door half-open
on the entrails of that mirror
-This one? -No; its sister.
-It can't be closed. It can't
be reached, that place
where latches go unfinished.
Such is the place I know.
