

New York Percussion Quartet
Formed in 1994, the NEW YORK PERCUSSION QUARTET is an energetic ensemble dedicated to performing music of many different styles and cultures. Based in New York City, its members met while studying at the Juilliard School; they hail from Israel, Ukraine, Uruguay and The United States of America. NYPQ is equally at ease performing contemporary music, world music, ragtime music and classical transcriptions, on over 100 different instruments.
The group has appeared live on NBC's "Today in New York", Grand Central Partnership's "First Night in New York" at the New York Public Library, the Museum of Modern Art's "Summer Garden" series and at the John Harms Theater. NYPQ was twice featured in concert at the Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar, and performed and lectured at The Juilliard School, The Kosciuszko Foundation (for The Lyric Chamber Society of New York), The Nashville Institute for the Arts, Hofstra University, George Mason University and The Princeton Institute for Advanced Study. The group has recorded Iannis Xenakis's Okho for Xennakis USA, which is available on Mode Records. NYPQ brings, energy, experience and a multi-dimensional background to one stage.
