Music and Astronomy Under the Stars

Bringing Astronomy to the Public
Free Star-gazing at Music Concerts and Festivals

Dr. Donald Lubowich, Coordinator of the Astronomy Outreach Program at Hofstra University, will give concertgoers a spectacular glimpse of the heavens. This NASA–sponsored program will include observations of the Sun prior to the concerts and the Moon, planets, multi-colored double stars, star clusters, and nebulae at intermission and after the concerts – combined with videos, posters, hands-on-activities, and the sounds of the Sun The Amateur Observers' Society of New York is a partner with this program.

July 31 –  Ravinia Music Festival, Highland Park IL, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Holst The Planets with Adler Planetarium coordinated film of images , 8 pm.  See the Sun, Moon, Saturn, multi-colored double stars, star clusters, and nebulae with telescopes.  The Adler Planetarium, Chicago Astronomical Society, Northwest Suburban Astronomer, and Skokie Valley Astronomers will assist with this program. www.ravinia.org
