Writer, journalist, book editor and tireless promoter of Galician and Spanish culture, Víctor F. Freixanes’s curriculum encompasses many years as redactor jefe of Radio Popular de Vigo, director of a prominent cultural program on Galician television entitled A trabe de ouro [La clave de oro], and a series of positions as the head of the most prominent Spanish presses: from 1989-93 he was the general editor for Edicións Xerais in Galicia; from 1994-98, general editor of Alianza Editorial, establishing the series Alianza Actualidad, and director of the literary department of Grupo Anaya; and in 2002 he became the director of Editorial Galaxia. He is, since 2004, a member of the Academia da Lingua Galega, and author of numerous books in the Galician language, among them: Unha ducia de galegos [Una docena de gallegos] (1976); O fresco. Memoria dun fuxido [El fresco. Memoria de un huído] (1980); O triángulo inscrito na circunferencia [El triángulo inscrito en la circunferencia] (1982); O enxoval da noiva [El ajuar de la novia] (1988); A cidade dos Césares [La ciudad de los Césares] (1993); Galicia, unha luz no Atlántico [Galicia, una luz en el Atlántico] (2001). His presentation will be a journey through the Spanish publishing industry in literature today, focusing in particular on Spanish literatures in languages other than Castilian, and on the Galician literary scene. The presentation will be in Spanish.
