Writers Need Readers!

From first-year students to graduate students to faculty and staff, at the Hofstra University Writing Center, you can meet face-to-face or online in real time with one of our qualified tutors. Wherever you are in your writing process – working toward a topic, developing your ideas, structuring your argument, revising and polishing drafts – we can help.

To make an appointment, click on the link above "SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT." (First-time users will need to fill out the required information to register.) Then select the date and time for your appointment. Fill out the from and at the bottom, and be sure to select either

  •  No – Meet face-to-face at the Center
  •           or
  • Yes – Meet Online.

If you're meeting face-to-face, bring the paper/assignment with you to the Writing Center.

If you are meeting online, the tutor in the time slot you have chosen will receive an e-mail informing her or him of the appointment. If you choose to meet online, you'll need to upload your paper to Google Docs prior to the appointment and log onto your Google Docs account at the time of your appointment.

Please bring the assignment sheet the instructor gave you (or if online have a copy available for the tutor).

For a brief instructional video about uploading a paper to Google Docs and meeting a tutor online, click the following link: Online Writing Center Appointments.

We will also accommodate walk-in appointments if we have a free tutor.
