Mission Statement

The mission of the Hofstra North Shore - LIJ Master of Science program in Medical Physics is to provide the strongest possible clinical, academic, and ethical training for careers in medical physics clinical practice, research, and education. The program follows guidelines of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and its goal is to achieve accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP). The mission includes training students for CAMPEP accredited residencies and their board certification. The program provides opportunities in Therapeutic Radiological Physics, Diagnostic Radiological Physics, Nuclear Medicine, and Health Physics. The Hofstra North Shore - LIJ Medical Physics program will provide quality-of-care and patient-safety driven opportunities for active learning in small classes taught by experts from academia, healthcare systems, and industry.
