Senior Honors Thesis or Project
For many HUHC students the senior honors thesis is a culminating moment in their collegiate career. It is a unique opportunity to identify and pursue a question, issue, or project that is theirs alone. By writing a thesis or completing a senior project, students are taking the first steps toward making their own contribution to the fund human knowledge.
All honors theses or projects are overseen by an advisor in a student’s major department. To qualify to pursue a thesis or project, a student must meet the department’s requirements, including having earned at least a 3.5 overall GPA. Once completed, these projects and theses earn a student “honors in major,” a designation that is noted on the transcript and diploma.
Credits earned via the senior thesis or project are treated by HUHC as honors credits that count toward the fulfillment of all HUHC designations. They also fulfill one of the requirements for the HUHC Graduate with Distinction designation. This is the highest designation that Hofstra offers.
