Applying to HUHC as a first-year student

We understand that the college application process is stressful. For that reason we’ve designed the HUHC application process to be as simple as possible. The credentials of every student who indicates an interest in HUHC will be reviewed carefully. You can let us know you are interested in HUHC by checking the box on the Hofstra application. Students may also contact the admissions office directly to ask that they be considered for admissions into HUHC. If you didn’t know about HUHC when you applied or forgot to check the box, don’t worry: admissions counselors review all applicants’ files with an eye for those who would be likely candidates for HUHC. Our decisions are based on performance in standardized tests, the quality of the course work taken in high school, grade point average, letters of recommendation, applicants' essay and the extra-and co-curricular activities as outlined in the regular Hofstra or common application. In short, we consider a student’s entire profile.

Applying to HUHC after your first-semester at Hofstra

We regularly invite Hofstra students to join HUHC who have performed at a level consistent with our regular admissions standards. Effectively this means that students earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher at Hofstra will receive a letter from the dean inviting them to join HUHC. Students with a 3.4 Hofstra GPA may apply for admission at any point.

Transferring to Hofstra and HUHC

Students transferring to Hofstra from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to join HUHC. We work with each transfer student individually to develop a personalized academic plan that includes opportunities to enrich coursework and take advantage of all the other HUHC benefits. In addition, transfer students who participated in an honors program or college at their original institution may also be eligible to apply their previous honors-work toward the satisfaction of HUHC requirements.
