New College International Internships

The International Off-Campus Education program (OCE) offers Hofstra students opportunities to earn credits toward their academic degree by enrolling in an international internship program, which provides opportunities to participate in an internship abroad for a semester, summer session(s), or an entire academic year. Students who wish to participate in an international internship should contact Hofstra's Director of International Off-Campus Education (see below).

Candidates for international internships must submit a detailed proposal in the semester prior to the start of their proposed internship. Written in consultation with the appropriate faculty adviser, the proposal must make clear the student's objectives and suitability for off-campus education. The proposal must also indicate that there is a sound educational relationship between the proposed internship (and related coursework, if applicable) and the student's degree plan.

Written projects that demonstrate successful completion of an international internship are subject to New College guidelines or those established by the faculty adviser. A New College or Hofstra faculty member holds meetings and maintains contact with each student involved in the internship.

For more information about international internships, please contact the Director of International Off-Campus Education, Dr. Peter W. Sherwood, in Roosevelt 207, at (516) 463-5822.
