Learning Goals and Objectives

  1. To stimulate curiosity, creativity, imagination and intellectual risk-taking.
  2. To educate students to think critically, communicate effectively, and create audio, video, cinematic, and online works of high quality.
  3. To teach students to use and understand the potential of current and evolving technologies.
  4. To enrich conceptual and contextual understanding of radio, television, film, and the Web through the close study of examples, theories, and histories of these media.
  5. To provide a context for students' intellectual and mediated practice so they understand the impact of their socio-political position on the world while they are simultaneously located in a scholarly, community-based, and audience-oriented environment.
  6. To prepare students to pursue careers in media and media-related outlets, as creators, producers, directors, writers, researchers, distributors, et al.
  7. To prepare students to pursue graduate studies in a related discipline.
