There's nothing like broadcasting live from one of New York City's world famous venues. Pictured above WRHU student staff broadcast live from Belmont Park prior to the start of the Belmont Stakes.

The WRHU sports broadcasters are considered to be the best in America. Broadcasting games from Florida to Massachusetts, Washington DC to Hawaii. WRHU covers baseball, football, basketball, and all 18 Hofstra sports. WRHU sends staff to NY Jets NFL training camp, the US Open, and major sporting events.
WRHU sports was the first college radio station to broadcast games on Sirius satellite radio and presently produces a weekly Arena Football League show airing on Sirius.

At WRHU we train our staff to go out of the studio and into the field to speak with people making the news. Often times our student reporters cover important stories before they hit the mainstream media and many times our reporters meet / interview rising stars.
A great example of this happened a short time ago when then WRHU student reporter Andrew Falzon interviewed a politician from Illinois. Now that former WRHU student reporter can be seen on TV reporting for NY1 and that politician from Illinois Barack Obama is a potential candidate for the Presidency of the United States!
The moral to the story: If you are an aspiring broadcaster come to Hofstra where training and opportunity meet.

There are many special places in the Hofstra University School of Communication. Walk into WRHU and you'll find something no other radio station in the world has. WRHU is the home of the CBS TV Long Island News Bureau.
