"Documenting Diversity is not just some roundabout filmmaking workshop. It's a tight-knit group of ten kids who get to explore each other's differences and how those differences bind us all together. I'll never forget it. It was like a series of real life Breakfast Club moments!"

Earn Money
Not only will you be able to make your own documentary movie, but you will get paid to do so. Each student that completes a film will receive a generous stipend. Now that is a great summer job!
Work with College Professors
Documenting Diversity participants are taught by Hofstra University’s award winning faculty. With only 10 students chosen for the program, you will receive in-depth and personal instruction, often on a one to one basis.
Walk the Red Carpet
Once the films are completed, Documenting Diversity sponsors a gala premiere of all the films, complete with a red carpet, searchlights and members of the press snapping pictures. You can invite your friends, family and loyal fans to watch your film and see you collect your award. Wear your coolest shades!
Make an Impression
Nothing will look more impressive on your college application than having completed a professional looking documentary film in a college setting.
No Prior Experience Necessary
This Necessary program isn’t for filmmakers only. We will teach you everything you need to know. We want the brightest, most interesting students possible. We want students who want to explore the cultural, political and social aspects of being a teenager in a culturally diverse world. So whether your interests lie in history, psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, or filmmaking, we are interested in hearing from you.
Learn a New Language
Yes, that’s right – the language of cinema! Not only will you learn about how films are made and communicate, but you will also learn about the tools that are used, including high end video cameras and computer editing systems.
