LIVESCAN fingerprinting is now available: The Hofstra community has the opportunity to be fingerprinted for field placements and New York State certification using LIVESCAN. LIVESCAN is a digital imaging system which captures fingerprints to be sent to the appropriate state agencies for clearance. This clearance typically takes 48-72 hours and is the quickest and most efficient way for fingerprints to be processed. Teacher and School Building Leader Candidates graduating May 2013 or after will need to pass a new set of New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE’s). At this point, the State has not provided information on a possible grandfathering of old (current) exams. As such, Candidates graduating in May 2013 or after should wait for the new tests to become available before beginning testing. Any updated information on the planned changes will be found on the State’s website.
