Gerontology students will attend meetings of two national Gerontology groups. Both of these are nationally significant groups, and the students attending these meetings will have opportunities to meet professionals from The Field; to network, to learn about job-opportunities and new career possibilities.

Gerontology Students will celebrate their semi-annual Recognition Dinner on January 13th, 2011. The dinner celebrates the academic achievements of students in The Program, and also celebrates those who have recently completed The Program and received the MS or the Advanced Certificate in Gerontology.

Our department is prepared to offer travel awards to Gerontology graduate students who wish to attend professional conferences. The awards will be given to 4 lucky students for up to $1,000 each. Interested students must be matriculated (registered for 6 credits or more), and must apply directly to Dr. Jeffrey Rosenfeld via e-mail.
PEIR is a group of retirees (Professionals and Executives In Retirement). PEIR is based on the Hofstra campus and, every year, gives a scholarship to a deserving GRON grad student. Ms. Amitrano is finishing her Masters degree, and will pursue a career in geriatric nursing.

Dr. Jeff Rosenfeld has published a book with Wid Chapman, who chairs the Interior Design Program at Parsons School of Design. Dr. Rosenfeld's new book looks at senior home-design; everything from luxury retirement villas to nursing homes in 7 of the world's most rapidly aging nations (USA, China, India, Japan, Israel, Brazil, and Sweden).
