

Financial Aid Options
In addition to financial aid and payment plan options offered by Hofstra University, the FLPS Department offers a variety of financial aid options for candidates applying to the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership programs (CAS) or the doctoral program in Educational and Policy Leadership (Ed.D.)
Scholarships
Scholarships for Aspiring Educational Leaders are designed for exceptionally qualified candidates who have not yet begun administrative preparation. There are two levels of awards that offer tuition remission through the CAS or the Ed.D. programs:
- Applicants to the CAS are eligible for awards up to a maximum of $10,000.
- Applicants to the Ed.D. program are eligible for awards up to a maximum of $30,000.

Scholarships for Educational Leaders are designed for exceptionally qualified candidates who have already completed administrative certification and are currently employed in educational leadership positions. These awards offer up to $18,000 in tuition remission for Phase II and Phase III (Advanced Professional Study and Dissertation) of the doctoral program.

Research Assistantships
Applicants to the doctoral program may apply for a position as a research assistant. These positions are available to full-time students in the doctoral program; duties typically require a minimum of 15 hours/week. For details, contact the department.
Doctoral Fellowships
Doctoral candidates may also apply for fellowships – partial tuition remission awards of varying amounts based on merit and need. Please click here for more information. (Link downloads Microsoft Word format file.)
Doctoral students who receive financial support are expected to provide service to the learning community through participation on one of several committees, organizing social events, participating in student recruitment activities, or developing the department newsletter.
Students are also encouraged to apply for fellowships and financial incentives awarded by professional organizations, such as the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and 100 Black Women of Long Island.
