The Athletic Training Education program is an undergraduate program that prepares students for employment in the profession of athletic training. The curriculum is designed to meet the entry-level athletic training competencies and proficiencies identified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Education Council. It is also designed in accordance with the requirements established by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Professional preparation includes knowledge and skill development in the areas of prevention and health promotion; clinical examination and diagnosis; therapeutic interventions; acute care of injury and illness; psychosocial strategies and referral; healthcare administration; evidence based practice; and professional development and responsibility. The classroom and clinical experiences provide graduates the ability to work with diverse populations in both traditional and non-traditional employment settings. Admission to the professional phase of the program is competitive.
