SOEHHS students team up to raise money for school in Kenya
Hofstra's two student chapters of the international professional organization ASCD, meet with Chief Joseph Ole Tipnako Koisele of the Maasai tribe in Kenya to talk about the I Am the Voice program, an international collaborative to improve education in that country, particularly for women and girls. The Hofstra undergraduate and graduate education students worked with the Central Islip school district to raise money to help build a school in Kenya. Hofstra students raised $2,300 by selling t-shirts and Maasai jewelry and holding raffles and book fairs. Chief Joseph visited Hofstra twice this year, staying in touch with the students via Skype between visits.
