About the Certificate program
Intended for certified K-12 teachers, the 15 s.h. Advanced Certificate in Educational Technology provides advanced studies in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of educational technologies for meaningful learning.
Special emphasis is placed on designing innovative ways to use technology to help students relate new experiences and ideas to what they already know. The Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Technology aims to meet the needs of educators aspiring to become leaders in today’s digital age.
This program helps students:
- Use technologies that can transform teaching, learning and the curriculum.
- Hone skills needed to identify, analyze and solve learning problems with the use of educational technology in a variety of settings.
- Learn how to design educational technology tools that can be implemented in a classroom environment.
- Gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies in state-of-the-art facilities at Hofstra University.
The Advanced Certificate in Educational Technology conforms to teacher preparation recommendations by the International Society for Technology in Education and, in particular, ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards.
Students enrolled in the Adv. Cert. program who desire to continue towards an M.A. may transfer these 15 s.h. towards the Technology for Learning program.
