Parent Involvement in Education (PIE)

Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)

Purpose

The Parent Involvement in Education program helps facilitate student success in math, science and technology through collaborative parent committees. Parents of program participants are eligible to participant on committees. Two parent committees exist to ensure that program goals and objectives are met:

Parent Involvement in Education (PIE) Committees

  1. Academic Committee
    • Participate in the planning of the yearly academic program
    • Participate in tutorials and engage in leadership skill development
    • Assist staff with student college preparation and standardize exam preparation for students
    • Assist with monitoring STEP success
  2. Student Programming Committee
    • Scholarship fundraiser for graduating class
    • Assist with student recognition, activities and programming
    • Serve as chaperones for local and long-distance student trips
    • Serve as hallway monitors during Saturday classes
