College Preparation

College 101

STEP students are exposed to college life through a series of workshops offered by Hofstra University CSTEP students, covering an array of topics ranging from college programs to managing finances. CSTEP participants also give college tours of Hofstra University campus, to further expose STEP participants to college life.

SAT Preparation

We collaborate with Kaplan or Princeton Review to offer the SAT review course. High school juniors are encouraged to participate in SAT prep before their senior year. The course provides test-taking techniques.

Student Research

Students engage in research opportunities at laboratories including Cold Spring Harbor and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Topics include gene mutation, fingerprinting, bacterial transformation, DNA restriction and other related areas in science, math, technology and engineering. Students are also provided an opportunity to present research at the Annual STEP Statewide Student Conference.
