Through this Teacher Education Program, graduates will be eligible for loan forgiveness only if they serve as teachers in a high-need school district on Long Island. The school district must be approved and reviewed by the Dean of the School of Education and Allied Human Services to qualify. Examples of school districts that would currently qualify are Roosevelt, Hempstead and Wyandanch, among others.
Graduate students receive one year of loan forgiveness for each year they serve in one of the high need school districts.
Graduate students may be able to teach in other high needs school districts and be eligible for loan forgiveness with the concurrence of Hofstra University and the Hagedorn Foundation.
