Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the Information Technology and Quantitative Methods Department!
As computer information and knowledge systems have become an integral part of every successful business, a new set of technical managerial challenges has been created. The Information Technology programs at the Zarb School of Business provide the undergraduate and graduate educational resources which are essential to meet these challenges. Our programs, the B.B.A., M.B.A. and M.S. in Information Technology prepare students to deal effectively with information technology and business processes. Our students’ solid grounding in the basic business functions including finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, and operations, etc. along with their superior education in information technology allow them to immediately contribute to the development, operation, and management of organizational information systems.
Some facts about our Information Technology programs and the Information Technology profession:
- Our curricula are under constant review to assure that they remain state-of-the-art. This review includes significant input from our Information Technology Executive Board of Visitors. This Board is composed of senior level Information Technology executives from organizations including Group Health Inc./Emblem Health.com, AmeriGroup, Discovery Channels, RCG Information Technology, Cablevision, Cable & Wireless International, Kanebridge, and Frequency Electronics. Additional IT executives are expected to join our group in the near future. Our Visitors are unanimous in their belief that all organizations need graduates who understand how to apply information technology to business processes with the aim of increasing value by achieving high process quality at competitive costs.
- Our courses are taught in excellent facilities using the most current commercial software products from vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, and SAP.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that though 2016 the Information Technology sector will experience the largest job growth among a number of professions. Network systems and data communications professionals are predicted to experience the largest job growth of about 54 percent. This is followed by applications developers, systems analysts and database administrators. Our graduates are qualified to enter the job market in each of these areas.
