Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the Information Technology and Quantitative Methods Department!
As computer information and knowledge systems have become an integral part of every successful business, a new set of technical managerial challenges has been created. The Information Technology programs at the Zarb School of Business provide the undergraduate and graduate educational resources which are essential to meet these challenges. Our programs, the B.B.A., M.B.A. and M.S. in Information Technology (IT) prepare students to deal effectively with information technology and business processes. Our students’ solid grounding in the basic business functions including finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, and operations, etc. along with their superior education in IT allow them to contribute to the development, operation, and management of organizational information systems.
Some facts about our IT programs and the IT profession:
- Our curricula are under constant review to assure that they remain state-of-the-art. This review includes significant input from our IT Executive Board of Visitors composed of senior-level IT executives.
- All of our full-time faculty have doctoral degree in their field of specialization.
- Our courses are taught in excellent facilities using the most current commercial software products from vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, and SAP.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that though 2016 the IT sector will experience a very large job growth among a number of professions. Network systems and data communications professionals are predicted to experience the largest job growth of about 54 percent. This is followed by applications developers, systems analysts and database administrators. Our graduates are qualified to enter the job market in each of these areas.
