Dr. Askew holds a master’s degree in psychotherapy and psychosexual therapy from South Bank University in London, England, and a Ph.D. in child and family development with a marriage and family therapy specialization from the University of Georgia in the United States. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings, including private practice, mental health clinics and hospital work, and she is licensed as a marriage and family therapist in New York state. Dr. Askew has also completed two years of specialist training in couples and sex therapy at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry in London.

Dr. Askew’s current research projects include a large study of the sexuality of women after hysterectomy. She has published in a number of professional journals on topics including couples and Viagra, women’s health, and adolescent identity. Dr. Askew has a private practice specializing in sex therapy and is also working on a community intervention project to reduce sexual risk-taking behaviors in adolescents.
