Welcome to the School of Health Sciences and Human Services
Did you know that approximately 25 percent of all new jobs created between now and 2020 will be in the health care industry? The School of Health Sciences and Human Services at Hofstra University was created to address the increasing need for qualified professionals to work in the home, the school, the clinic, the work place, the hospital and other health care facilities. Professionals are also needed to work with government and community agencies to create policies and manage health care programs.
The School of Health Sciences & Human Services offers programs in health science, rehabilitation, counseling and therapy, physician assistant studies, speech-language pathology, audiology, public health, community health, and health management. Programs provide a rich variety of premedical, pre-professional and professional educational opportunities and internships. In addition to receiving an education in a selected field of study, students are educated in the arts and sciences. Integrating the arts and sciences with a health care specialty gives students a foundation for problem-solving and critical thinking, developing oral and written communication skills, and an appreciation of the cultural and economic diversity of local, regional and global communities.
