Graduate
Assistantships are available. Graduate
Assistants have an opportunity to work in the department, the clinic,
or with a faculty member with different sorts of tasks including
research, managing the Davison Lab, the Hearing Aid Dispensary,
etc. The number of work hours required of a Graduate Assistant are
typically 10/week and more.
Students
who believe they qualify, must submit a new Scholarship Application
(for the scholarships and assistantships), each year in order to
be considered. Information about Scholarships can be obtained from
the Graduate Program Director.
The
dollar amount of scholarships is calculated based on number of semester
hours for which students actually register. Hofstra's scholarship
awards may be used only for tuition. The amount of departmental
Graduate Assistantship awards is based on an hourly scale.
All
awards are renewable and must be reapplied for each academic year.
Non-departmental Graduate Assistantships are posted on the
Hofstra Web site.
[At the Hofstra Home Page click on Student Services (on the right-hand
menu), then click on student employment, and on the left menu click
on current jobs.]
Periodically,
some work-study monies become available for graduate students. Please
inquire about work-study in the Speech Department office.
The deadline for scholarship and assistantship awards for applicants
to the Graduate Program is January 15th.
A scholarship application is submitted with the student's application
for admission.
