Thank
you for your interest in our M.A. program. Our graduate program in
Audiology (Aud) enjoys a national reputation for its academic and
clinical excellence. A brief description of our program follows.
Our Audiology Program is intended for students who plan to work
in clinical and hospital environments, and private practice. AUDs
are educated to be critical thinkers and are trained to provide
services to individuals across the life-span - from neonates through
the geriatric years. Individuals treated by Audiologists may have
disorders of hearing, may need rehabilitation (e.g. learning language
and speech after having a cochlear implant), may need to be fitted
with hearing aids, or may require habilitative intervention. In
addition to their academic coursework, students complete five (5)
clinical experiences, two (2) in our on-campus clinic and three
(3) at off-campus sites.

Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic |
Our
clinic is located in the Saltzman Community Services Center on the
South campus. The Center houses clinics associated with Hofstra's
graduate clinical programs. The Center also houses a licensed Day
Care facility with children from 8 weeks to 5 years of age.
Our
affiliates include approximately 87 sites comprised of acute and
sub-acute care health facilities, rehabilitation facilities, nursing
homes, special schools for communicatively disabled children, and
several private practices.
The MA in Speech Language Pathology is accredited by the Council
on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language Hearing
Association (ASHA). The program prepares students to meet all academic
requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA),
as well as state licensure and school certification.
